For the first time during the 2025 men's college basketball transfer cycle, a former Sooner has found his new home.

Jacolb Fredson-Cole announced via X on Friday that he is transferring to McNeese, a mid-major program that just won its first NCAA Tournament game but lost its head coach.

Fredson-Cole was the third and most recent player from OU's 2024-25 roster to enter the transfer portal on Tuesday. The portal officially opened on Monday.

A former four-star recruit from Bellaire, Texas, Fredson-Cole appeared in only 15 games this past season as a redshirt freshman. He played a season-high 16 minutes against Stetson early in the season and didn't see the court at all after OU's blowout loss to Florida on Feb. 18.

Fredson-Cole is joining a program that just hired a new head coach on Tuesday, the day he entered the portal. Bill Armstrong will replace Will Wade, who left for NC State after leading McNeese to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.

Despite the lack of contribution, Fredson-Cole's size as a 6-foot-7 forward still increased the Sooners' need to find help down low this offseason. OU's two other losses to the portal, Luke Northweather and Yaya Keita, were also depth pieces at forward.

The Sooners are also losing four forwards because of eligibility, including starters Jalon Moore and Sam Godwin.

So far, Porter Moser & Co. haven't added anyone from the transfer portal during this first week of the cycle. Big bodies down low will certainly be a priority, though, after struggling in that spot this season, especially during physical SEC play.
