Let the exodus begin.
The Oklahoma men's basketball team on Monday suffered its first two losses to the transfer portal of the 2025 offseason. The transfer window just opened on Monday.
According to On3's list of players transferring, OU forwards Luke Northweather and Yaya Keita have entered the transfer portal. Neither were major contributors this past season.
Northweather, a redshirt sophomore, saw an uptick in playing time late in the season after senior forward Sam Godwin was sidelined with a right knee injury. He played a season-high 22 minutes in the Sooners' win against Texas in their regular-season finale. Northweather tied a career-high 10 points in the game and also pulled in five rebounds.
Northweather averaged 2.7 points and 1.5 rebounds this season.
Coming to OU from Blair Oaks High School in Missouri, this is Northweather's first time in the transfer portal.
This is Keita's second time in the portal after transferring to OU from Missouri in 2022. He redshirted his first year on campus, then appeared in only 11 games the next year and didn't record a stat this season.
Although they hadn't contributed much yet, Northweather and Keita could still take a toll on the depth OU needs down low next season. The Sooners are already losing their three best big men, and Northweather would be considered the fourth-best forward on OU's roster. Listed at 6-foot-11, Northweather is also the tallest player on OU's roster.
Size will be the Sooners' biggest need to get from the transfer portal this offseason. They struggled on the boards this season and now lose everyone they had contributing.
