There was a time when Senior Night ceremonies informed fans which players wouldn't be coming back the next season, but that's no longer the case.
The Oklahoma Sooners lost 46 players from the 2024 roster who will not return to Norman for the 2025 season. Twenty players exhausted their eligibility, while 26 entered the transfer portal and will be playing at a new college football program.
Here's the list of every player from OU's 2024 roster who won't be back in 2025.
Exhausted eligibility
Billy Bowman Jr. - S
Spencer Brown - OL
Ethan Downs - DE
Luke Elzinga - P
Trace Ford - DE
Branson Hickman - OL
Tyler Keltner - K
Ethan Lane - LS
Dez Malone - CB
Major Melson - WR
Josh Plaster - P
Jake Roberts - TE
Zach Schmit - K
Davon Sears - DT
Danny Stutsman - LB
Michael Tarquin - OL
Da'Jon Terry - DT
Casey Thompson - QB
Woodi Washington - DB
Caiden Woullard - DE
Although the unit survived the transfer portal pretty well, OU's defense took the biggest blow from the senior class. Stutsman, Bowman and Downs were all good enough talents to earn NFL Scouting Combine invites. Ford, Washington and Woullard also made impacts on the defense last season.
The special teams lost everything with Elzinga, Schmitt and Keltner moving on. Depending on the transfers OU added this offseason, those could be underrated losses for the Sooners this season.
Offensively, the Sooners didn't lose much outside of a few contributors in Roberts, Hickman and Tarquin.
Transferred
Jaquaize Pettaway - WR - East Carolina
Jackson Arnold - QB - Auburn
Nic Anderson - WR - LSU
Kalib Hicks - RB - Oklahoma State
Emeka Megwa - RB - UNLV

Bauer Sharp - TE - LSU
Ty Kubicek - OL - Harding
Joshua Bates - OL - SMU
Evan McClure - OL - Tulsa
Geirean Hatchett - OL - Washington

Kenneth Wermy - OL - Central Oklahoma
Erik McCarty - DB - Emporia State
Makari Vickers - DB - Colorado
J.J. Hester - WR - Kentucky

Dasan McCullough - LB - Nebraska
Andrel Anthony - WR - Duke
Brenen Thompson - WR - Mississippi State
Brendan Zurbrugg - QB - Utah
Phil Picciotti - LB - UCF
Ashton Sanders - DL - UCLA
Eugene Brooks - OL - UCLA
Lewis Carter - LB - UCF
Arnold was the headliner of transfer portal losses, but the Sooners won't miss anything there after adding Washington State quarterback John Mateer through the portal and Michael Hawkins Jr. staying.
The Sooners did take several hits at wide receiver, though, with six headed elsewhere. Sharp, who led OU in receiving yards, also left for LSU.
Defensively, the Sooners did a stellar job keeping players around, even with a switch at defensive coordinator.
Overall, although the number of losses is inflated, the Sooners didn't lose anyone catastrophic to the transfer portal.
