The Oklahoma Sooners sometimes reference to their prospects as "Future Freaks," and the 2027 group is living up to that label.

After just landing a commit good enough to play both wide receiver and safety at the college level, the Sooners are closing in on adding another freak athlete to the mix in Jaiden Fields, who also plays receiver and safety. Rivals national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman recently logged a prediction for Fields to commit to OU. SoonerScoop's Josh McCuistion then logged the same projection on Monday morning.

Jaiden Fields predicted to follow Bode Sparrow to OU as Sooners stock do-it-all players

According to the 247Sports Composite, Fields is the No. 40 athlete in the 2027 class while Rivals has him ranked as high as No. 19. Bode Sparrow, who pledged to the Sooners on Friday, is the No. 7 ATH in the class. Although the Sooners have a spot open at receiver in the class after a pair of decommitments, both are expected to join Brent Venables' secondary.

Last season for Hutto High School (TX), Fields caught 89 passes for 1,345 yards and 18 touchdowns. Those are Division-I receiver numbers playing in the highest class of Texas high school football. Defensively, he also tallied 48 tackles, two tackles for loss, three pass breakups, three fumble returns and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a score.

After showing out in Texas, it seemed like Fields would also stay home for his college days. He was at one point predicted to end up at SMU. He took official visits this spring to SMU, Texas A&M, TCU and Stanford. But then the Sooners got the last laugh as his final OV last weekend after a late push. Obviously it went well based on the latest predictions.

Fields would join Sparrow and four-star Jaylen Scott as safeties committed to the Sooners' 2027 class, which has been ranked in the top 5 in college football since the start of the cycle. Scott is the No. 23 safety in the class, per the 247Sports Composite.

Sparrow, listed at 6-foot-2, adds a dangerous dynamic to Oklahoma's secondary as a lengthy defensive back with the same ability as a D1 receiver. He's a proven ballhawk with seven interceptions last season for Davis High School in Utah and nine in 2024. Fields would also bring those same skills to the table. Scott also had five picks last season.

Those safeties would join cornerback Gabriel Osborne Jr., who was recently upgraded to five-star status to become the Sooners' top commit. They also have pledges from four-star CB Mikhail McCreary and three-stars Mikyal Davis and Trenton Blaylock.

Venables, thanks to a couple of freak athletes, is assembling one of the most dangerous secondaries college football will see in the near future in Oklahoma.
