Bode Sparrow is a Sooner.

The four-star athlete from Davis High School in Keysville, Utah becomes the 26th commitment in the 2027 class. Sparrow took his official visit to Oklahoma on May 29 and chose the Sooners over Oregon, BYU and Utah after taking officials to all four schools. Listed as a wide receiver, Sparrow is likely going to move to defensive and play in the secondary.

"Not an easy decision. I think in the end it came down to what my gut told me and I needed to be at Oklahoma. I just get excited when I think about Oklahoma," Sparrow said after making his commitment on the CBS Sports HQ YouTube channel.

Sparrow is a four-star prospect on both 247Sports and Rivals/On3, with Rivals' having him graded as a No. 79 player in the class and the No. 4 athlete.  The 247Sports composite has Sparrow at No. 82 nationally and the seventh-best athlete in the country.

Beyond the four programs that made up Sparrow's final group. His list of offers is impressive, and it includes Michigan, Tennessee, Miami, Illinois, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, UCLA, Cal and a host of others.

4-star OU commit Bode Sparrow wants all of the SEC smoke

Sparrow talked about the excitement of playing in the SEC and representing Oklahoma in some of the toughest environments in the country.

"Just playing at the highest level. Playing at Georgia. Playing at Alabama. That's who I've always been. To be the best, I want to play the best and that's what's got me excited to be part of Sooner nation," Sparrow said. "I like to think I'm a gamer and when things are on the line I'm going to step up to the occasion. That's why I want to play in these big-time environment games and I think that's where I'm going to be the best version of myself."

Sparrow's numbers on offense are impressive as well. He had 83 catches for 1,218 yards and 16 touchdowns as a junior. But Sparrow is an accomplished two-way player and grabbed seven interceptions on defense as well. The trust that Sparrow has is Sooners coach Brent Venables and safeties coach Brandon Hall was one of the primary reasons that he is part of OU's class and ready to test himself as a full-time player in the secondary.

"Obviously, coach Venables...just the success he's had everywhere and not just Oklahoma. I have a really close relationship with Coach Hall, and we're really like-minded. I can see their vision and I love the vision they have for me. I'm just ready to go buy-in, work hard and do whatever I can to help that program," Sparrow added.

Venables continues to roll on the trail in 2027. Oklahoma currently has the fourth-best recruiting class in the nation according to both websites. The 26 commitments is the most of any school ranked in the top 10.
