We have a date to circle.

We've had a pretty good idea on the what for awhile, but now we finally know the when for 2027 four-star athlete Bode Sparrow's decision.

247Sports college football recruiting analyst Blair Angulo reported on Tuesday that Sparrow will announce his college choice on Friday after finishing up his official visits and narrowing his options to Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah and BYU. His decision will be announced live on the CBS Sports YouTube channel at 2 p.m. CT from his hometown of Kaysville, Utah.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Sparrow is the No. 7 athlete in the class while being good enough to play both wide receiver and safety at the Power Four level. He's expected to play safety in Brent Venables' system if he goes to OU. That would plop a ballhawk in the Sooners' secondary with Sparrow listed at 6-foot-2.

Last season as a junior for Davis High School, Sparrow caught 83 passes for 1,218 yards and 16 touchdowns. Defensively, he posted 71 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, seven interceptions and three pass breakups. He also excels as a basketball player, averaging 13.2 points a game.

Bode Sparrow decision day arrives with Sooners still in strong position over Oregon, BYU and Utah

Sparrow has seemed destined to be a Sooner for months now but still certainly hasn't rushed his decision. Multiple recruiting experts, including Angulo, logged predictions as early as March for Sparrow to commit to OU. Here we are near the end of June, though, and Sparrow still hasn't made a decision known. However, 247Sports' Crystal Ball Prediction still has Sparrow being a Sooner, even after all this time.

He took official visits to Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah and BYU this spring to give all four of his final options a weekend to persuade. He also made an unofficial visit to Tennessee in April. Norman was Sparrow's first stop the last weekend of May, and the best-case scenario for the Sooners would have been to not let him leave Oklahoma without pledging to them. A lot can change nearly a month and three visits later.

There's reason for Sooner Nation to be cautiously optimistic after a prolonged recruitment as Sparrow gave everyone a chance to make a last-minute impression, especially with how recruiting goes in 2026. Just on Tuesday, Ole Miss lost four-star defensive lineman commit Ben’Jarvis Shumaker to Colorado less than 24 hours after he announced he was shutting down his recruitment to be a Rebel. A commitment barely means much anymore, so an expert prediction can also be taken with a grain of salt.

However, it still seems Friday will finally be the day that Sparrow decides to be a Sooner.
