Boomer Baker Mayfield was the best offensive player in the NFC last week.

The NFL announced its weekly awards on Tuesday, with Mayfield earning NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Mayfield earned the honors after going off Sunday with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' NFL playoff hopes on the line. He threw five TD passes against one of his former teams, the Carolina Panthers. Mayfield completed 27 of 32 passes for 359 passes and the five TDs with no turnovers. He posted a 90.3 QBR in the outing.

The five TD passes tied a career high for Mayfield. The 359 passing yards was the second-most he's thrown for this season after passing for 370 yards in a loss to the Baltimore Ravens earlier this season.

The Buccaneers handled the lowly Panthers 48-14 on Sunday to improve to 9-7 and stay atop the NFC South standings with only one week left in the regular season. After the Atlanta Falcons lost on Sunday night, the Bucs can now clinch the division with a win over the New Orleans Saints at noon CT on Sunday in Tampa Bay.

If the Bucs seal the deal this weekend, Mayfield will have led Tampa Bay to an NFC South title and the NFL playoffs both of his seasons as the Bucs' starting quarterback so far.

Mayfield led the Sooners to the four-team College Football Playoff twice during his Oklahoma career. He also won a Heisman Trophy in 2017.

So far this season, Mayfield has thrown for 4,279 yards and 39 TDs compared to 15 interceptions. That TD total is tied for the second-most in the NFL with Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. Only Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow has thrown more with 42.

Mayfield's yardage total is also the third-most behind Burrow and Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff, respectively.
