Oklahoma fans finally got to see new general manager Jim Nagy's magic touch during this Transfer Portal cycle, and although major recruiting outlets don't have the Sooners with one of the best transfer classes on paper, next season will prove Nagy's evaluation to be even better.

Headliners of the Sooners' portal class included wide receivers Trell Harris from Virginia and Parker Livingstone from Texas. Those two will definitely make an immediate impact at a position the Sooners really needed it, but there were three underrated additions who will define Nagy's genius during the 2026 season.

Underrated Transfer Portal additions for the Sooners

Nagy completely revamped the tight end room for new position coach Jason Witten with three portal additions. Hayden Hansen (Florida) and Jack Van Dorselaer (Tennessee) got the biggest spotlights coming from SEC programs, but portal regular Rocky Beers will be the fan favorite in 2026 at his fourth stop.

While Hansen and Van Dorselaer will be quiet heroes in the run game, Beers will loudly become one of quarterback John Mateer's top end-zone targets. This past season, Beers broke a Colorado State single-season record for tight ends with seven touchdowns, along with 388 receiving yards.

An all-around tight end who can be dangerous in the passing game while still holding his own on the line at 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds is exactly what OU fans have been begging for, and Nagy delivered with Beers.

The Sooners were desperate for depth along the offensive line, and Nagy likely over-delivered by getting E'Marion Harris from Arkansas. Heading into his redshirt-senior season, Harris already has proven SEC experience after starting 24 games for Arkansas between the past two seasons.

Harris gives OU offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh a list of options up front. Harris already admitted he'll play right tackle for the Sooners, so he could immediately start there so Ryan Fodje can slide to guard. Or, at the least, Harris could be an if-needed backup for both tackle spots as one of the most experienced backup offensive linemen in college football.

After being an unrated and unranked recruit just two years ago, Kenny Ozowalu just had a breakout redshirt-freshman season at UTSA that propelled him to get an opportunity at a blue blood program like OU as the No. 10 edge rusher available in the portal, according to Saturday Blitz. Ozowalu posted 17 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks and 22 pressures in 12 games with 10 starts in 2025.

Ozowalu emerged as one of the most-wanted defenders in the portal this cycle, but Nagy never backed off to get him to Norman, and it will be evident why throughout the season.
