The Oklahoma football program continues to pull in top-level talent. 2 hours ago, at approximately 11am C.T., Missouri City, Texas, 4-star wide receiver Zion Kearney posted, on social media, that he was ‘Ready to Cash In’ on the Oklahoma football program. Kearney officially committed to Oklahoma, becoming the 2024 Oklahoma Sooner’s recruiting class’ top verbal commitment of the cycle.
Kearney is a composite 4-star wide receiver according to 247Sports. he ranks as the 16th overall player in the State of Texas. During his Junior year at Hightower high school, Kearney racked up 765 receiving yards and 8 receiving touchdowns. Kearney is a 6’3”, 195-pound receiver with above-average athleticism and good jump ball ability.
Kearney is BIG. He plays small. Watching Kearney’s HUDL tape, I saw him make plays that you often see smaller receivers make. He possesses good straight-line speed, but his quickness impressed me. He should get to Norman and be able to add around 10 pounds to his big frame.
Kearney marks the Sooners’ sixth overall commitment of the 2024 recruiting cycle and the class’ second wide receiver behind Kelly ‘K.J.’ Daniels.
Wide receiver coach Emmett Jones has done a fantastic job in the recruiting department since his arrival on campus in January. However, he still has one huge target set on his radar. Midlothian, Texas, 5-star wide receiver Bryant Wesco. If coach Jones can reel in Wesco, along with his other 2 commitments, the receiver class for 2024 will be loaded. Wesco has long been my most anticipated recruit for the 2024 class because of his unbelievable play-making ability and pure speed. The good news? Coach Jones was the first coach to offer Wesco when he was a receivers coach at Texas Tech. Oklahoma is lucky to have Emmett Jones on the staff; we can’t wait to see who he sells on Oklahoma next.
The recruiting class for the 2024 cycle is coming together nicely. The Sooners’ 2024 recruiting class has skyrocketed up the rankings in the last week. The class currently sits at 15 overall, according to On3. Several other top-tiered recruits are expected to go the Sooners’ way in the next few months. Carl Albert running back Xavier Robinson has announced his commitment date for May 10th. It is expected/hoped that he will join Kearney in Norman.
The Spring has been good to the Sooners. The Summer will be even better. But the Fall is going to be the best.
Welcome to Norman, Mr. Kearney; we know a storm is coming with you.
