A blowout win over Florida Atlantic in Week 1 resulted in no change for Oklahoma football in the Coaches Poll Top 25, released on Tuesday.
The Sooners started at No. 5 in the 2018 preseason Coaches Poll, and they remain there, one of three top five teams in the weekly poll whose standing stays unchanged from a week ago.
No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Clemson and the Sooners remain the same, while Ohio State and Georgia reversed each other in the No. 3 and 4 positions, respectively, with Georgia moving up to the No. 3 spot.
The top four spots are the same in both major human polls this week. While Oklahoma holds down the No. 5 ranking in the Coaches Poll, Wisconsin is the No. 5 team in the Associated Press poll. The Sooners moved up to No. 6 in the AP poll, from No. 7 last week, but are very close in the vote total to Wisconsin and No. 4 Ohio State.

While there were five Big 12 schools that began the season ranked among the top 25 teams in the 2018 Coaches Poll, now there are just four, with No, 21 Texas dropping out following a 34-29 loss at Maryland in the Longhorns’ season opener.
Other than Oklahoma at No. 5, TCU, a 55-7 winner over Southern this past weekend, is the next closest Big 12 team, staying put at No. 16. West Virginia advanced three spots in this week’s Coaches Poll, to No. 17, after defeating Tennessee 40-14. Oklahoma State moved up a couple of positions, to No. 23, with a 58-17 win over Missouri State.
Florida State was the biggest mover in the Coaches Poll from Week 1, dropping 13 spots, to No. 21, after falling at home to LSU, 33-17. LSU jumped up nine positions, to No. 15, with the win.
The Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel made up of 65 head coaches from FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) schools around the country. Five Big 12 coaches are participating on the panel this season (Mike Gundy of Oklahoma State, Tom Herman of Texas, Dana Holgorsen of West Virginia, Kliff Kingsbury of Texas Tech and Gary Patterson of TCU).
