For the third consecutive week, an Oklahoma football player has made the Big 12 weekly honor roll.

Following the Sooners dominating 66-17 win on the road at Tulsa this past weekend, QB Dillon Gabriel and WR Nic Anderson have earned Player of the Week honors. Gabriel, in his second season at OU and fifth collegiate season, is the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, and redshirt freshman Anderson is Newcomer of the Week in the conference.

All Gabriel did over the weekend was complete 28 of 31 passes for 421 yards and five touchdowns. His .903 completion percentage against Tulsa is a program record for a minimum of 25 pass attempts. And all of this was achieved in just three quarters of action. He did throw one interception, however, his first of the season in 80 pass attempts.

The native Hawaiian led the Sooners on scoring drives in seven of eight possessions (6 touchdowns and a field goal). The last time OU scored as many points in a true road game was back in 1980. This is the fourth time Gabriel has received a Big 12 weekly honor.

Three of Gabriel’s five touchdown passes in the Tulsa game landed in the arms of Anderson, who caught three balls for 120 yards. Those three catches also landed the speedy wide receiver in the OU record book. He is the first freshman with three touchdown catches in a game in Sooner history.

Gabriel and Anderson share Big 12 weekly honors for Week 3 with BYU DE Tyler Batty (Defensive Player of the Week) and K/WR Matthew Golden of Houston (Special Teams Player of the Week).

OU WR/PR Gavin Freeman was Special Teams Player of the Week in the Big 12 in Week 1 and LB Danny Stutsman was Defensive Player of the Week in Week 2.
