It’s the day after New Year’s, which basically means I ate a lot of bad food and watched plenty of football.
I’ll keep today’s notebook short, and to the point. Well, I’ll attempt to anyway.
Charles Tapper won’t declare for draft
The Sooner defense will at least keep two of three key players from 2014.
Junior defensive end Charles Tapper will not be going pro after OU’s dreadful 2015 season. He tweeted his decision earlier this morning.
Tapper finished the season with 36 tackles and three sacks. It’s a good pick up for the defense, especially one that excelled at stopping the run.
The Sooners now await the decision of Dorial Green-Beckham who could make all the difference on OU’s national title hopes next year.
Mack Brown says OU fans should “be begging” Stoops to stay
In a recent interview, former Texas head coach Mack Brown seems to be in full support of OU head coach Bob Stoops.
"“Go back and look at what it was before he got there. Look at what he has accomplished, because Bob Stoops has done one of the best jobs of anybody in the country and will continue to do that at Oklahoma. They be better be begging him to stay and not be griping.” – Mack Brown, via Star-Telegram"
A vote of confidence from the former butt of every OU fans joke is in support of Stoops? Not sure if the fans will beg for Stoops or listen to any word Mack says, though, I’ll agree, Bob Stoops isn’t the main problem.

A National Champion in our midst
The first ever College Football Playoff National Championship game is set.
As glorified as Nick Saban is, this guy can’t beat teams with third string quarterbacks in the Sugar Bowl to save his life.
The Oregon Ducks throttled Florida State, so they’ll meet up with Ohio State in Dallas for the big game.
What makes this interesting is Ohio State and Oklahoma have a home-and-home series coming up in the next few years.
The Buckeyes will visit a newly renovated Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in 2016, and OU will return the favor by going to Columbus in 2016.
Urban Meyer has done wonders with Ohio State, and depending on what paths both teams take, that’s a huge match-up with two storied programs just waiting to happen.
