The Oklahoma men's basketball assistant general manager is cooler than yours.

Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young started last week by becoming the assistant GM for his old program at OU. He then finished the week by breaking the Hawks' record for most assists in a single season in a game against the New York Knicks on Saturday.

Young and the Sooners announced on March 31 that he accepted a role as OU's assistant GM. In the position, Young will lend support in OU player personnel and strategic roster management planning, and will serve a critical role in helping build student-athletes' brands and maximizing their potential, according to OU's press release.

With the move, Young also donated $1 million to the Sooners' NIL funds to help his own cause of luring top talent to Norman.

The role as OU's assistant GM is just a side hustle for Young, though. He's also thriving in his day job as an NBA All-Star.

Young has been tremendous this year in his seventh season in the NBA. He was the biggest snub of the NBA All-Star Game earlier in the year, but eventually, all was made right as Young earned his fourth All-Star recognition.

This season, Young is averaging a double-double at 24 points and 11.6 assists a game. He's tallied a Hawks record 847 assists and still has four games left in the regular season.

Earlier in the season, Young also became the Hawks' career leader in assists at only 26 years old.

Young has somehow managed to do for more the OU brand after his college career than he did even during his stellar freshman campaign with the Sooners.

He's not only now OU's assistant GM and donated $1 million, but he's also vocal about the Sooners' success and even recently donated free tickets so local kids could watch the women's basketball team's home NCAA Tournament games.
