Transfer portal season is here.

The transfer portal officially opened Dec. 9 and there was already reportedly a waiting list of Sooners ready to enter. Then even more joined since, as 27 now former OU players have either announced or been reported to be in the transfer portal.

The portal closed for the Sooners on Wednesday, five days after OU's Armed Forces Bowl loss to Navy.

During the chaos, this will be your place to keep up with who's leaving Oklahoma and where they're headed.

Outgoing transfers

Jaquaize Pettaway - wide receiver - sophomore

Pettaway was the first Sooner to be reported with plans of entering the portal. He didn't record any stats this season and should start at his next destination as a redshirt sophomore. As a freshman, though, Pettaway played in nine games, catching 11 passes for 70 yards. He was a consensus four-star recruit out of Houston, Texas.

Next destination: East Carolina

Jackson Arnold - quarterback - sophomore

The biggest story of transfer season so far was Arnold reportedly set to leave OU after being the starting quarterback most of this season. It wasn't all that shocking, though, after an underwhelming sophomore campaign and with OU hiring new offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle, who could be bringing John Mateer with him.

Arnold was a five-star recruit out of Denton Guyer High School in Texas with extremely lofty expectations. He appeared in five regular-season games as a freshman to burn his redshirt before making his first career start in the Alamo Bowl. He then started nine games as a sophomore, completing 63% of his passes for 1,421 yards and 12 touchdowns, compared to three interceptions. He was most successful this season as a runner, though, rushing for 444 yards and three TDs. He also caught a touchdown this season.

Next destination: Auburn

Nic Anderson - wide receiver - redshirt sophomore

Although somewhat forgotten about this season, Anderson might be a bigger loss than even Arnold. Anderson played only a few snaps against Tennessee this season because of a lingering injury, but as a redshirt freshman last season, Anderson caught 31 passes, which was the most ever by an OU frosh. He had 798 receiving yards and 10 TDs. He most noteably caught the game-winning touchdown pass against Texas in last year's Red River Rivalry.

Next destination: LSU

Kalib Hicks - running back - redshirt freshman

A rather unknown, Hicks is looking to escape a loaded running back position at OU that includes a pair of freshman studs. He mostly got work on special teams this season, appearing five games. He got only two carries for 11 yards. Last season, he had three carries for 14 yards and a TD in two games while maintaining his redshirt.

Hicks was a four-star recruit, according to On3, out of Denton Ryan High School in Texas.

Next destination: Oklahoma State

Emeka Megwa - running back - redshirt junior

Like Hicks, Megwa is also looking to get out of a crowded position group. Megaw is older, though, as a redshirt junior, but has only one career carry for 6 yards last season. He transferred from Washington after redshirting there in 2021, then was injured his first year at OU.

Next destination: TBA

Jayden Rowe - defensive back - redshirt sophomore

Rowe announced himself via X that he plans to enter the transfer portal. His playing time has been sparse as a Sooner since coming from Union High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, including a season-ending injury during last year's opener. He was a highly touted recruit, though, as a four-star prospect.

Next destination: Kansas State

Chapman McKown - running back - redshirt freshman

McKown announced he would enter the portal and be the third OU running back to do so. Out of local Norman North High School, McKown, listed at 5-foot-5, never recorded a stat as a Sooner.

Next destination: Central Arkansas

Bauer Sharp - tight end - redshirt junior

Hayes Fawcett of On3 reported Saturday that Sharp will enter the portal after only one season in Norman. He transferred from Southeastern Louisiana last year.

In his lone season at OU, Sharp led the Sooners in receiving with 324 yards and two touchdowns on 42 catches.

Next destination: LSU

Ty Kubicek - offensive lineman - redshirt freshman

Kubicek announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal after never seeing the field as a Sooner. He was a preferred walk-on from California.

Next destination: Harding

Joshua Bates - offensive lineman - redshirt freshman

Bates was the first Sooner to be reported to transfer once the portal officially opened on Monday, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett. He was in the midst of OU's early offensive line carousel but played only four games this and started twice at center.

From Durango, Colorado, Bates was a four-star recruit out of high school.

Next destination: SMU

Evan McClure - offensive lineman - freshman

McClure announced himself that he'd be heading somewhere new. He was a preferred walk-on from Bixby, Oklahoma, so he was most likely another casuality to looming roster limitations.

He originally chose to walk on at OU, where his dad also played on the O-line, over scholarship offers at smaller programs.

Next destination: Tulsa

Geirean Hatchett - offensive lineman - redshirt senior

The Sooners lost their third offensive lineman to the transfer portal. According to multiple reports, Hatchett is in the portal with one year of eligibility left.

Hatchett transferred from Washington last year but didn't play after the season opener after undergoing season-ending surgery.

Next destination: Washington

Kani Walker - cornerback - redshirt junior

Walker will be a hit to OU's secondary after being the second-most used defensive back on the team, according to Matt Zenits of CBS Sports. He recorded 24 tackles, seven pass breakups and an interception this season. He originally transferred from Louisville before spending three years in Norman.

Next destination: Arkansas

Makari Vickers - cornerback - sophomore

Vickers had a strong start to his Sooner career as a freshman, but then after some trouble and an injury during the offseason, he appeared in only four games this season. He will be able to redshirt for this year.

Matt Zenits of CBS Sports first reported that Vickers would be transferring.

Next destination: Colorado

Erik McCarty - safety - redshirt freshman

OUInsider first reported that McCarty, from McAlester, Oklahoma, would be transferring after two years in Norman. He appeared in only one game as a Sooner.

Next destination: TBA

Kenny Wermy - offensive lineman - redshirt freshman

Wermy announced that he will head to the portal after two years at OU. He never saw the field as a preffered walk-on from Cache, Oklahoma. He was the fifth offensive lineman the Sooners have lost to the transfer portal.

Next destination: Central Oklahoma

J.J. Hester - wide receiver - redshirt senior

Hester will play his last season of college football somewhere else. He announced he would transfer after three years at OU.

Hester's 6-foot-4 will be missed, especially with Nic Anderson also leaving, but he wasn't ever as productive as expected since transferring from Missouri three years ago. This season, he led OU receivers with 315 receiving yards with one TD.

Next destination: Kentucky

Dasan McCullough - linebacker - junior

This loss was certainly a surprise when On3's Hayes Fawcett reported it on Tuesday.

At 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, McCullough was a massive presence on OU's defense playing Venables' hybrid cheetah linebacker position, where he started most this season and last.

McCullough got a late jump to this season because of an injury, but still finished with 17 tackles and 2.5 TFLs.

A Bloomington, Indiana native, McCullough had been at OU for two years after transferring from Indiana.

Next destination: Nebraska

Andrel Anthony - wide receiver - senior

Anthony became the fifth OU receiver to enter the transfer portal, On3's Hayes Fawcett reported Wednesday.

After transferring from Michigan, Anthony spent two years in Norman but played in only one game this season because of injury. He'll have one year of eligibility left after being able to redshirt this season.

Last season, when healthy, Anthony had 27 receptions, 429 receiving yards and one TD.

Next destination: Duke

Brendan Zurbrugg - quarterback - freshman

Brendan Zurbrugg's stop in Norman was certainly brief. He's in the portal, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports and 247Sports, after just getting to OU less than a year ago last January. He redshirted this season after signing as a three-star recruit from the 2024 class.

Next destination: Utah

Brenen Thompson - wide receiver - junior

Brenen Thompson was the sixth OU receiver to enter the transfer portal, which was reported by CBS Sports and 247Sports. This is his second trip through the portal after transferring to OU from Texas first. Thompson was injured most of his first year in Norman, then had 19 catches, 230 yards and two TDs this season.

Next destination: Mississippi State

Oklahoma down to one scholarship receiver that's not a freshman

Phil Picciotti - linebacker - redshirt freshman

Hayes Fawcett of On3 reported that Phil Picciotti will head to the portal after two years at OU, during which he never saw the field while battling injuries. Rivals rated Picciotti as a four-star recruit out of IMG Academy in 2023.

Next destination: UCF

Eugene Brooks - OL - freshman

A week after the transfer portal officially opened, offensive lineman Eugene Brooks is reportedly headed in, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports and 247Sports.

Brooks didn't see the field much while redshirting this season but was a highly touted recruit out of last year's class. He was a consensus four-star prospect from Las Vegas.

Next destination: UCLA

Lewis Carter - LB - sophomore

Lewis Carter was a big loss after playing in the Armed Forces Bowl.

Carter spent his two seasons with OU as a backup but was a four-star recruit and All-American out of high school.

Next destination: TBA

Mykel Patterson-McDonald - DB - freshman

Mykel Patterson-McDonald should be OU's last casualty to the transfer portal after officially entering two days after the final day to submit paperwork.

Patterson-McDonald never saw the field in his only season at OU but was a four-star recruit out of nearby Westmoore High School.
