There's a lot going on in March when winter and spring sports collide, so it's easy to miss out on what happened throughout the week. Here are the three biggest storylines from this week for the Oklahoma Sooners.
Oklahoma undefeated on diamond
Oklahoma is the only school in the country that still has unbeaten baseball and softball teams.
With both diamond sports starting to heat up, the OU baseball and softball teams are a combined 28-0 through the first day of March.
The baseball team is off to its best start ever under coach Skip Johnson at 10-0. The Sooners reached double-digit wins with a 10-2 victory over CSUN on Saturday at L. Dale Mitchell Park. They also beat CSUN on Friday, 9-0. The two teams will conclude the weekend series at 1 p.m. CT Sunday.
Patty Gasso & Co. were also in Norman this weekend, hosting three different teams at Love's Field. The softball team is 18-0 after beating Marshall and Kansas twice apiece between Friday and Saturday. The Sooners' weekend will end with another home game against a winless Kansas City at 1:45 p.m. CT Sunday.
Three Sooners compete at NFL Combine, more NFL Draft preparation ahead
Former OU defenders Danny Stutsman, Billy Bowman Jr. and Ethan Downs participated at the NFL Combine this week in Indianapolis as they prepare for the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.
Stutsman and Downs went Day 1 on Thursday with the linebackers and defensive ends, respectively. Stutsman performed well overall, while Downs made headlines when he got 32 reps on the bench press, more than any other defensive lineman at the NFL combine.
Bowman then shined on Day 2 with the defensive backs and continued to rocket his NFL Draft stock. He was perfect during the gauntlet and ran a 4.42 40-yard dash.

Next in NFL Draft preparation, OU announced on Saturday that it will host its annual pro day on Tuesday, March 11.
OU men's basketball running out of chances
The Oklahoma men's basketball team lost what might be its best chance left for a win before March Madness starts.
The Sooners dropped another heartbreaker to Ole Miss 87-84 on Saturday in Oxford, Mississippi. They also narrowly lost to No. 17 Kentucky 83-82 on Wednesday at Lloyd Noble Center as former Sooner Otega Oweh scored a career-high 28 points and made the game-winner.
OU is on the NCAA Tournament bubble and desperately needs another win, if not two, to go dancing. The Sooners finish the regular season this week with No. 14 Missouri on Wednesday and a trip to Austin for a rematch with Texas on Saturday. Both teams have already beaten OU once this season.
Meanwhile, the OU women are comfortably in the field of 68 for the NCAA Tournament and will host No. 20 Alabama at 1:30 p.m. CT Sunday for their regular-season finale. The SEC Women's Basketball Tournament will start on Wednesday.
