The soap opera that's been of the Oklahoma Sooners' 2026 quarterback recruitment could reach a finale this weekend.
OU 2026 quarterback target Bowe Bentley will make his long-awaited official visit to OU this weekend, which should mean a decision for where he goes to college coming soon. That could also be the domino that needs to fall to find out how OU's future future quarterback situation shakes out since the Sooners already have a 2026 QB committed in Jaden O'Neal.
Bowe Bentley takes official visit to Oklahoma this weekend
Bentley has narrowed his choices down to OU and LSU. He visited LSU last weekend, so after visiting his top two choices back-to-back weekends, the next step is presumably a public decision sometime soon. Bentley recently altered his official visit schedule, moving his LSU trip from June 20 to last weekend and his visit to Norman from June 13 to Friday, giving the Sooners the last impression.
OU offered Bentley in late January shortly after Ben Arbuckle was hired as offensive coordinator and Bentley was still under the radar. But after a stellar junior campaign, Bentley has since been flooded with big-time offers and risen as a consensus top-10 quarterback prospect in the 2026 class.
It was a head-scratching move when the Sooners started to pursue an underrated recruit when they already had O'Neal, a four-star prospect, locked in since last summer. The curiosity for how OU's future plans at QB will unfold has only grown this offseason.
Although fully committed to OU before, O'Neal has recently entertained other options. He visited Arizona last weekend and even teased a possible flip to the Wildcats. He also has an official visit to Florida State scheduled for June 15 and will be at OU on June 20 during the Sooners' ChampU recruiting weekend. O'Neal's decision could already be made for him before he even visits Norman again, though.
Not just Bentley's future could be decided this weekend with his looming decision after a visit, but also O'Neal's. Who is the Sooners' future QB1 could finally be decided this weekend.
