Maybe Brent Venables should start recruiting at Oklahoma's tennis facility.
A picture of OU men's tennis player Bruno Nhavene recently went viral on X because of his massive frame and led many wondering why there's not another sport he plays for the Sooners.
This is the first picture that caught everyone's attention:
Yeah, it's cool the Sooners started the season with a win, but that's not why this post went viral. Sooner Nation saw Nhavene and wondered why he wasn't playing football for the Sooners, too.
Nhavene, a junior from Maputo, Mozambique, is listed at 6-foot-3 on OU's website.
Nhavene saw everyone's comments and tried to make a deal with Sooner Nation. His offer was if 500 people attended the Sooners' dual on Sunday, then he would try to walk onto the football team.
Nhavene was unbeaten on Sunday. His singles match against Cornell was abandoned while he was up, 4-6, 6-3 and 3-1. He then competed with Oscar Lacides in doubles against UT Arlington and won 6-5.
Attendance didn't reach 500, though. However, it did still draw more eyes to the tennis team and it seems like Nhavene still might put pads on someday.
The Sooners will host the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Saturday and Sunday. OU will take on Tulsa at 1 p.m. Saturday.
At the end of the day, though, even if it doesn't look like it, Nhavene is definitely playing the right sport for the Sooners, who are ranked 10th in the country right now. However, it would be fun to see what an athlete like Nhavene could become on the football field, and 500 seems like a number Sooner Nation should be able to easily reach.
