With five NFL starting quarterbacks who spent at least one season of their college career at Oklahoma, two were bound to clash on a Sunday, and it happens to be the two at the top of their game.

Jalen Hurts will take his defending Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles into Tampa Bay to play Baker Mayfield’s Buccaneers at noon CT Sunday on FOX for what could be an NFC Championship Game preview between two undefeated teams. Both teams have started the season 3-0 as the Eagles have dominated a tough stretch so far, and Mayfield made NFL history by leading the Buccaneers on a game-winning drive three weeks in a row.

Baker Mayfield and Jalen Hurts face off when Buccaneers and Eagles meet

After winning Super Bowl MVP last season, Hurts is headed in the same direction this year. He threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns in last week’s 33-26 win over the Los Angeles Rams to mute the argument that he’s a glorified running back. Hurts has seven total touchdowns so far through three games.

Mayfield has emerged as an MVP frontrunner early in his third season in Tampa. He’s thrown for 615 yards and six TDs in three games, but has caught the attention of NFL fans by stepping up every time the Bucs have a needed a hero in the fourth quarter.

Mayfield and Hurts join the Arizona Cardinals’ Kyler Murray, Chicago Bears’ Caleb Williams and New Orleans Saints’ Spencer Rattler as quarterbacks who spent at least one season with the Sooners and have started at quarterback every game this season for their team.

That run of future starting NFL quarterbacks started with Mayfield, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft after going from a walk-on to Heisman Trophy winner at OU. The next season, Murray also won the Heisman and was the top pick. Hurts then took over the Sooners' offense after transferring from Alabama and was a Heisman runner-up before being a steal for the Eagles as a second-round selection.
