Baker Mayfield did it again, and as NFL fans were in disbelief, the Oklahoma Sooners faithful just collectively nodded their head.

After a game-winning touchdown pass Week 1, Mayfield again led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a game-winning drive against the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football. Getting the ball back with 2:10 left down 19-14, Mayfield completed seven passes for 63 yards and scrambled for a heroic 15 yards on a fourth down before Rachaad White finished the drive with a two-yard TD to ulyimately win the game and get the Bucs to 2-0.

Mayfield finished the game with 215 passing yards and two TDs, plus 33 clutch rushing yards as the Bucs became the first team since the 1970 merger to score a game-winning touchdown in the final minute of its first two games of the season.

Fans buzzing about another Baker Mayfield game-winning drive

NFL experts and fans, and even former Oklahoma State greats, were buzzing about Mayfield's performance Monday night.

Mayfield had to start his NFL career in one of the worst situations possible with the Cleveland Browns, then bounced between the Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams in 2022. He finally found a home and decent situation in Tampa, where you can't really say Mayfield revitalized his play, but was just finally able to do what he's always been able to do as a former Heisman Trophy winner and No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick.

Starting his third season with the Bucs, Mayfield has led the franchise to a divisional title and made the Pro Bowl his first two years in Tampa. And now he has his squad at 2-0 and as a serious Super Bowl contender.

That's caught the attention of many who thought Mayfield was a bust, and on a stage like Monday Night Football, he showed that he's actually one of the best players in the NFL. And those in the NFL world are finally realizing what Sooner Nation already knew this whole time.
