The Oklahoma Sooners don't get many chances to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes, but they are right now on the recruiting trail in pursuit of elite 2028 safety Brandon Nash.
Although multiple recruiting experts have already predicted Nash to commit to Ohio State, the Sooners still over the weekend extended an offer to him to enter the race while Nash was in Norman for OU's spring game.

Nash has a growing list of offers as a top-10 safety in the 2028 class, including from Arizona, Arizona State, in-state Cal, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, in-state UCLA, Washington and more. That list has inflated recently and will continue to as Nash's stock as a prospect has risen.
Just last month, Rivals upgraded Nash to a four-star prospect. According to the 247Sports Composite, Nash, listed at 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, is the No. 8 safety in the 2028 class and No. 126 overall player. He's from California, where the Sooners have been recruiting heavily, and is the No. 7 player in the state out of St. John Bosco High School.
Last weekend was Nash's first reported visit to Oklahoma, but he's already taken three trips to Ohio State, including just last month. In what's become a rare situation for the Sooners, they clearly have a lot of ground to make up after getting a late start in the race for Nash. The Buckeyes got almost a year headstart after offering Nash last June.
According to Rivals' Parker Thune, though, the Sooners made a great first impression and Nash plans to make another visit to Norman. OU is also nearing that first domino to fall to build momentum for its 2028 class that could lead to more gets like Nash.
The Sooners are still looking for their first 2028 commit after running back Micah Rhodes was before decommitting. The first one should be soon, though, after the Sooners recently turned their focus to that group, starting with last weekend's spring game that played host to a long list of visitors and resulted in a handful of offers. And swiping a top target from Ohio State would instantly swing momentum in the Sooners' favor.
