The Oklahoma Sooners are going after the best player they possibly can from the 2028 recruiting class.
A'mir Sears, the consensus No. 1 overall prospect in the 2028 class, announced via X on Thursday that he received an offer from the Sooners to add to what was already a lengthy list and features every blue blood in college football.
A'mir Sears adds Oklahoma to loaded list of offers as top 2028 recruit
Finishing up his sophomore year at Miami Columbus High School in Florida, Sears has nearly 50 offers on the table as one of the most coveted recruits out there. His options include Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas A&M, USC and many more.

Sears, listed as an athlete at 6-foot-1, excels at both defensive back and wide receiver, but will likely play cornerback in college. According to every major recruiting outlet, he's No. 1 in the country, in the state and at his position as an obvious five-star recruit.
Last season for West Broward High School, Sears recorded 61 tackles, a tackle for loss, 11 pass breakups, three interceptions and a forced fumble. He also caught 42 passes for 942 yards and 11 touchdowns, showing he could definitely be the next Travis Hunter if given the chance. Sears led West Broward High School to its first Class 6A state championship game in 2025 before transferring to Miami Columbus High School. He was also a MaxPreps All-American as a freshman and sophomore while at West Broward High School.

It's a heavyweight fight for Sears, but not only one that's worth it, but one the Sooners had to enter as a heavyweight themselves that needs big hitters like Sears to remain a national contender. OU already has one of the best 2027 recruiting classes in the country and is looking to make the 2028 group even better, and Sears would be one to take things to a next level if OU can outduel the hometown Hurricanes.
