Spring camp is over throughout college football, so now only the summer and fall camp stand between the Oklahoma Sooners and their 2026 season opener on Sept. 5 against UTEP. Basically all there is to do between now and then when games are actually played is predict what might happen after what we learned during the spring.
Predicting Oklahoma’s 2026 schedule with spring camp over
Sept. 5: vs UTEP - W
This is barely a warm-up for the Sooners against one of the worst teams in college foottball. OU will get things sorted out with its new team while thumping UTEP.
Sept. 12: at Michigan - W
After handling Michigan in Norman last season, the Sooners now go to Ann Arbor, but it should still be the same result, even at a different location. Continuity ultimately prevails here as OU enters Year 5 under Brent Venables and the Wolverines will still be figuring things out in just the second game with an entirely new coaching staff.

Sept. 19: vs New Mexico - W
New Mexico is no cupcake after going 9-3 last season, but the Sooners will still cruise to head into SEC play at 3-0.
Sept. 26: at Georgia - L
A likely top-5 team on the road makes for the Sooners' toughest challenge of the season against one of the few programs in college football with even more stability than OU. The Sooners start SEC play with a loss, but that's still not a bad omen for the rest of the way.
Oct. 10: vs Texas - W
If not for an injury to quarterback John Mateer, the Sooners probably matched up against Texas even better last year than they will in 2026, yet they still lost in the 2025 Red River Rivalry. Venables and the Sooners need this one bad, though, after losing three of the last four. This could be a Red River Rivalry all-time classic with Texas transfer wide receiver Parker Livingstone coming up big for OU.
Oct. 17: vs Kentucky - W
Kentucky has entered a new era with head coach Will Stein, but the Wildcats still aren't worth worrying about, at least not yet.
Oct. 24: at Mississippi State - W
Entering Year 3 under former OU offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby, Mississippi State is one of the bottom-feeders in the SEC and will still be in 2026.
Oct. 31: vs South Carolina - W
South Carolina again has star LaNorris Sellers back at quarterback, but just like last season, there's just not enough talent around him. There's a chance the Sooners are even facing an interim coach by this point after Shane Beamer is fired. That and home-field advantage could make for a rare SEC blowout.
Nov. 7: at Florida - W
Florida is entering Year 1 under Jon Sumrall, but by this point in the season, the Gators should have things figured out and Sumrall has experience facing OU. The Gators will also be home at The Swamp. The Sooners, though, have more talent and defense travels, so they barely escape Florida with a win.
Nov. 14: vs Ole Miss - W
Lane Kiffin had Venables' number, but with Kiffin off to LSU, the Sooners finally get their first win over Ole Miss as OU's defense and the Memorial Stadium crowd make life hard for quarterback Trinidad Chambliss.
Nov. 21: vs Texas A&M - L
This will be a tough loss to swallow, especially so late in the season to end a six-game winning streak. The Sooners will slip again somewhere, though, and the Aggies return a ton of talent from a team that made the College Football Playoff and added one of the best transfer classes in the country.
Nov. 28: at Missouri - W
This will be a rivalry loss for Missouri, but just another win for the Sooners to recover before entering the College Football Playoff.
Season prediction: 10-2
Once again, the Sooners go 10-2 while enduring a stout schedule and get back into the College Football Playoff. This time, though, the battle-tested Sooners should be poised for a better postseason run.
