College football's next Travis Hunter, Colorado's former two-way star who won a Heisman Trophy in 2024, could come from right here in Oklahoma, and even be a Sooner.
Tom Loy of 247Sports reported on Wednesday that Kamieon Compton-Nero, a four-star two-way standout in the 2028 class, has scheduled seven unofficial visits for this upcoming spring as multiple programs have emerged as early favorites for the freak talent, including the Oklahoma Sooners.
Kamieon Compton-Nero schedules visit with Sooners
So far, according to Loy, Compton-Nero has locked in visits with OU, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, SMU, Kansas State, Texas A&M and Ohio State. He'll venture to Ole Miss first on March 27, then make a stop in Stillwater before visiting Norman on April 7 during the Sooners' spring camp. His college tour will end at Kansas State on June 14, but don't expect a commitment at that point.
On top of those schools, Compton-Nero also has offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, BYU, Baylor, Boston College, Missouri, TCU, Tennessee, Tulsa and Utah. That will list will likely grow during his junior year in 2026.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Compton-Nero is the No. 7 athlete in the 2028 class and the No. 88 overall player. He's also the top prospect in the state of Oklahoma out of Rejoice Christian School in Owasso. By itself, 247Sports is even higher on Compton-Nero as the No. 5 athlete and No. 62 player.
Compton-Nero, listed at 6-foot-2, played quarterback and in the secondary as a sophomore last season for Rejoice Christian, which won its second straight state championship. Offensively, he totalled 3,335 yards and 49 touchdowns. He passed for 2,584 yards and 38 TDs, while rushing for another 751 yards and eight scores. Defensively, he tallied 95 tackles and five interceptions. He also returned three touchdowns on kickoff.

According to 247Sports' Gabe Brooks' scouting report, Compton-Nero will most likely play safety at the college level. OU safeties coach Brandon Hall has also been Compton-Nero's main contact from the Sooners, which also points toward him ultimately ending up in the secondary. However, there's no denying he has the ability to play on the offensive side of the ball in college and other programs have put that opportunity on the table.
Even outside of football, Compton-Nero further proves his freak athleticism as a star basketball player for a team that just made the state semifinals.
The Sooners have a massive advantage in getting Compton-Nero's insane talent on their roster with former teammate and top target Xavier Okwufulueze already on campus as a 2026 signee. The duo took multiple visits to OU games together last season. Compton-Nero is also close with five-star 2027 offensive line commit Cooper Hackett from Fort Gibson.
