It's 10:30 p.m. on a Monday night in Oklahoma and Omaha, but there's no way Sooner Nation is going to bed anytime soon whether there's work in the morning or not.
The Sooners just accomplished what seemed unthinkable just a few weeks ago and absolutely destroyed No. 5 national seed North Carolina 13-2 in Game 3 of the championship series of the Men's College World Series to win the third national title in program history. But of all the teams that could have done this since 1994, when OU last won it all, this seemed like the most unlikely.

Oklahoma limped into the NCAA Tournament at 33-21 with a losing conference record at 14-16. The Sooners had lost seven of their last 10 games, four SEC series in a row and were bounced in the first round of the SEC Tournament by an underseeded LSU team. That had the Sooners, at one point fighting to host their own regional in Norman, as the 12th and final SEC team to get in the NCAA Tournament and head to the Atlanta Regional hosted by No. 2 national seed Georgia Tech.
Unknowing of the two-a-day practices and fried chicken that Skip Johnson planned leading up to the NCAA Tournament, fans were in disbelief when the Sooners looked like a completely different team while slaying ACC champion Georgia Tech twice, which required two massive comebacks and a walk-off home run to finish things off in Atlanta. But things just got more unreal from there.
The Sooners then dominated Kansas to sweep the Lawrence Super Regional in two games and become one of the most unlikely teams to show up to Omaha for the Men's College World Series. But then the story became even more like fiction as Oklahoma ultimately rattled off nine wins in a row, including two apiece over the conference champions from the ACC, Big 12 and SEC, to reach the finals and quickly take a 1-0 series lead over North Carolina.
Even after the Tar Heels punched back, the Sooners, who enjoy the taste of blood, delivered nothing but knockout blows Monday night. They scored in every inning but three while putting up crooked numbers in four different innings. All while a third starting freshman of the series, Nick Wesloski, gave up just one run in 2.1 innings before LJ Mercurius took control for 5.2 and Jackson Cleveland finished it off.
After the disbelief wore off, Sooner Nation partied like it was 1994 for what was definitely a surprise party we never saw coming.
