Sooner Nation has seen enough of Oklahoma men's basketball under Porter Moser's direction.
The Sooners lost to Texas 77-73 on Wednesday night in Norman to drop OU to 13-4. It was OU's fourth loss in a row to start SEC play 0-4 after getting through the nonconference schedule undefeated at 13-0.
The Longhorns have a future NBA Draft lottery pick on their team, but so do the Sooners in Jeremiah Fears, and Texas came into the Red River Rivalry struggling even worse than its biggest rival.
In the midst of a losing streak and even with a late 9 p.m. tipoff in the middle of the week, Sooner Nation, especially the OU students, still filled Lloyd Noble Center and created a homecourt advantage. That didn't matter, though, as OU was abysmal from the jump and trailed 43-27 at halftime.
After trailing by as many as 23 points, the Sooners finally showed some fight in the final 10 minutes, even outscoring Texas 46-34 in the second half. The deficit was still too much to overcome by that point, though, even with Jalon Moore scoring 29 and Jeremiah Fears putting up 20.
It's really been only two weeks of bad basketball for this set of Sooners, but it's been much longer than that under Moser. Sooner Nation has seen this before: a great start only to fizzle when conference play starts and lose the big games to miss the NCAA Tournament three straight seasons (and now destined for a fourth).
Moser has never led the Sooners to the NCAA Tournament, the minimum standard for even a decent program. Wednesday night's loss put Moser at 0-7 in the Red River Rivalry against OU's biggest rival. The loss also extended the Sooners' losing streak, assuring Sooner Nation it's in for the same type of season again with Moser leading the way.
Quite frankly, still with two months left in the season, Sooner Nation is tired of Porter Moser leading its favorite basketball program, and anyone who follows this program notices the obvious frustration.
