Sooner Nation has nothing but respect for what Porter Moser and Oklahoma has accomplished

Sooner Nation can't help but just swallow its pride and tip its crimson cap to Porter Moser.

At the start of March, the entire Oklahoma fanbase was tired of Moser leading the Sooners' basketball program and ready to move on immediately. There didn't seem to be a reason to even keep him around until the end of the regular season.

The Sooners had never made the NCAA Tournament in the three previous seasons under Moser. After enduring four- and five-game losing streaks during SEC play and having its bubble popped twice, it seemed obvious OU would be home again instead of getting an invite to the Big Dance.

But now, Sooner Nation is dancing, and it's not on the grave of Moser's career.

The Sooners are on a three-game winning streak after beating Georgia 81-75 in the first round of the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament on Wednesday night in Nashville, Tennessee. According to nearly every projection out there, the win was the last thing the Sooners needed to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament.

The other two wins during the run include a top-15 upset and victory over rival Texas on the road.

After a season of disappointment and anticipating another letdown on Selection Sunday, Sooner Nation had plenty to celebrate Wednesday night and this past week thanks to Moser and his team.

The Sooners' run in the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament will continue against 6 seed Kentucky at 8:30 p.m. CT Thursday at Bridgestone Arena.
