Sooner Nation was going to get to celebrate on Super Bowl Sunday no matter the outcome of Super Bowl LIX between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.
With eight former players, the Oklahoma Sooners had more representation in Super Bowl LIX than any other college football program in the country. It was the third year in a row that the Sooners had more former players than anyone playing in the Super Bowl.
With former Sooners Jalen Hurts at quarterback and Lane Johnson blocking for him, the Eagles thrashed the Chiefs 40-22 in New Orleans. Hurts was named Super Bowl MVP after accounting for three total touchdowns in the win and became the first former OU quarterback to win a Super Bowl.
Hurts won his first Super Bowl and Johnson became a two-time champion. And both enjoyed every moment afterward.
