By Brandon Self
#1 - Sam Bradford (QB, class of 2006)
Yeah... three stars, huh? Bradford signed with the Sooners out of PC North high school with the class of 2006. During his time in Norman, Bradford generated one of the greatest careers in college football history.
Bradford ended his Sooner career totaling 31 games played, 604 completions with a 67-percent completion percentage, 8,403 passing yards, and 88 passing touchdowns. He also had 5 rushing touchdowns. Following his 2008 season in Norman Bradford received a first team All-Big 12 selection, first team All-American honors, a Big 12 player of the year honor, the Davey O'Brien, the Sammy Baugh award, the Sporting News player of the year award, and the 2008 Heisman Memorial Trophy.
Bradford holds OU single-season passing records with 4,720 yards and 50 passing touchdowns. He was taken first overall in the 2010 NFL draft by the then-Saint Louis Rams. During his pro career, Bradford totaled 83 games played with 1,855 completions (62.5%). He registered 19,449 passing yards with 103 passing touchdowns. He holds the Eagles record for most completions in a game with 37 and the Vikings' most passing yards in a quarterback's first game with 286. He was also named as the 2010 offensive rookie of the year in the NFL.
There are plenty of other deserving three-star recruits in Sooner history. Names like Zack Sanchez, JD Runnels, Dru Samia, Jacob Gutierrez, Gabe Ikard. However these are the top-5, 3-star recruits in Oklahoma football history. As recruiting season heats up and the season gets closer remember one thing: the stars don't make the player, their work ethic and attitude do once they get on campus.
