In three seasons at Oklahoma, Garfield Heard averaged 15.7 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. He was an All-Big Eight First-Team selection his final season in 1969-70. He was selected No. 3 overall in the 1970 NBA Draft and played 11 NBA seasons with four teams, averaging 8.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per game for his professional career. Heard may best be remembered for the game-winning shot for the Phoenix Suns in Game 5 of the 1976 NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics.
