Oklahoma basketball projected starting five after Jalon Moore withdraws from the NBA Draft
By Josh Yourish
In his second year with Oklahoma and fourth season of college basketball, Godwin’s minutes increased, but his efficiency fell. He averaged just under 20 minutes a game, started all 31 for the Sooners, scored 6.7 points, and grabbed 5.2 boards, but shot a career-low 59.5% from the field.
Godwin is a traditional big, not attempting a single three-pointer across his two seasons in Norman and serving as a defensive anchor. When Moser’s Loyola Chicago teams were at their best, they were built around playmaking big Cameron Krutwig. Godwin doesn’t come close to replicating Krutwig’s unique skillset and until Moser finds an oversized decision-maker to serve as the fulcrum of his offense, he’ll continue to fall short of the NCAA Tournament.
The bizarre thing about Moser’s recent transfer portal activity is that he doesn’t seem to be prioritizing that type of player, one who can unlock his motion offense.
