Wide receiver Marquise Brown came to Oklahoma after one season at College of the Canyons, a California junior college. He did not receive one Division I scholarship offer out of high school. After his freshman junior college season in 2016, he received several D-1 scholarship offers but selected Oklahoma.

He acquired the nickname "Hollywood" after being referred to that way in a broadcast call of an Oklahoma game by FOX TV play-by-play announcer Gus Johnson. The name actually makes reference to Brown's hometown of Hollywood, Florida, and not the entertainment capital of the world as most fans might assume.

Brown played two seasons at OU and electrified crowds with his speed and pass-catching ability, especially on deep throws. He caught 132 passes for a combined 2,413 yards and 17 touchdowns in his two seasons at Oklahoma. His junior season in 2018, Brown was an AP and Sports Illustrated First-Team All-American and was also a Biletnikoff Award semifinalist.

Despite playing just two seasons at Oklahoma, Brown ranks No. 7 on the Sooner career pass receiving, including the single game record of 265 yards in 2017 against Oklahoma State.

Brown declared for the NFL Draft following his junior season and was selected in the first round by the Baltimore Ravens with the 25th overall pick.
