Kyler Murray played one season at Texas A&M before transferring to Oklahoma following the 2015 season. He had to sit out the 2016 season under NCAA transfer rules, but played in seven games in a backup role behind Baker Mayfield in the 2017 season.

Murray, who was a dual-sport star at OU, the starting centerfielder on the Sooner baseball team, became the starting quarterback his redshirt-junior season. The Allen, Texas, native was electric in the starting role, lighting it up both with his arm through the air and with his speed and quickness running with the ball. He threw for 4,361 yards and 42 touchdowns and gained 1,001 rushing yards along with a dozen touchdowns on the ground in his one season as the starter. He capped off his sensational 2018 season by winning the Heisman Trophy one year after Mayfield had done so.

Murray declared for the NFL Draft following the 2018 season. He also mirrored Mayfield in becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, taken by the Arizona Cardinals, the team he is still with. The year before, he was the No. 9 overall pick, selected by the Oakland Athletics, in the 2018 MLB Draft.
