It's OFFICIAL! Oklahoma now formally a member of SEC, and Sooners are bringing more than just football prowess

While the SEC is widely know as the best college football conference, Oklahoma is coming from the conference that has held that acclaim in men's basketball. OU would have fared somewhere in the middle to lower-third of the SEC men's standings in 2023-24 with a 20-12 overall record and 8-10 in conference play. In the 10-year existence of the now-ended Big 12/SEC Challenge (2013-22), however, the Sooners compiled a 7-3 record against their SEC opponents.

The Sooner women, who won the last two Big 12 regular-season basketball championships, would have fared better than the men in 2023-24. In comparison, the OU women would likely have been very competitive with every SEC team but South Carolina and LSU, which would have placed them somewhere in the upper-third of the conference
