Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso is up to her old tricks, replenishing the softball roster of the eight-time national champions with the best young talent available anywhere in the country.
On Tuesday, Finlee Williams, rated as the No. 1 outfielder in the 2027 class nationally and the No. 3 player overall, according to Softball America, announced her commitment to the Sooners.

Williams chose the Sooners over LSU and Texas Tech. She visited Oklahoma over this past weekend and was ready to make her decision after that. She had taken previous visits to LSU and Texas Tech.
Williams, from Melissa, Texas, became the third commitment in the Sooners' 2027 class, which is currently ranked No. 1 by On3/Rivals. She plays club ball for Texas Glory. In 2024, she hit .597 with four home runs, 27 runs batted in and 31 runs scored.
Also this month, Oklahoma earned commitments from catcher Juliana "Goose" Hutchens, rated the top player in Oklahoma and No. 2 nationally, and elite infielder Riley Hilliard, out of La Mirada, California, and the No. 11 player overall and the No. 2 catcher in the class.
This would be the third straight year Oklahoma has had either the No. 1 or No. 2 recruiting class nationally in softball. The 2025 OU class was No. 1. For 2026, the Sooners' class ranks No. 2 behind LSU, and so far, Oklahoma is back in the top spot for 2027.
Oklahoma recently announced its 2025-26 fall softball schedule, which included five intra-squad games as part of the Battle Series, as well as exhibition games against East Texas A&M on Oct. 7 and Oklahoma Christian on Oct. 15. The exhibition game with East Texas A&M is the only one that will be played out of town and not at Love's Field.
