Oklahoma softball coach Patty Gasso has credited elite talent for the Sooners' run of four straight national championships. Now, it appears Jennie Baranczyk is looking to get OU women's basketball in that same position.

Top 2027 recruit Finley Chastain on Monday night announced her commitment to the Sooners two years before she can even sign. In two years, Chastain will join Aaliyah Chavez, who recently signed with OU as the No. 1 player in the 2025 class.

Despite just finishing her sophomore year, this is already Chastain's second commitment after schools were after her early and she pledged to Tennessee as an eighth grader. She eventually re-opened her recruitment and visited Iowa, North Carolina and Oklahoma State, according to 247Sports, before choosing OU.

Chastain, listed at 6-foot, is a five-star recruit and No. 2 point guard in the 2027 class, according to the 247Sports Composite, which also ranks her as the No. 21 overall player. Based on Chastain's 247Sports ratings, Chavez would be the only recruit rated higher than Chastain to ever sign with the Sooners.

Chastain will be a junior at Faith Family Academy of Oak Cliff in Dallas next season as the Chavez era starts at OU. Chavez has expectations to be the next face of women's basketball, including from four-time NBA All-Star Trae Young.

With Chavez, OU's 2025 signing class ranked No. 5 in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite. The group also included four-star shooting guard Keziah Lofton and four-star forward Brooklyn Stewart.

Chastain was the Sooners' first addition to the 2027 class as an early commit.
