Oklahoma Sooners' top 10 sports moments in 2024

From national titles to new eras, 2024 was a memorable year for the Sooners.

Final Big 12 Bedlam men's basketball meeting

From near the corner at Gallagher-Iba Arena, Javian McCollum made a 3 as the buzzer sounded for the Sooners to secure the final Bedlam meeting on the court as conference foes, 84-82, on Feb. 24. And the fact it was in Stillwater and sealed a Bedlam sweep for the season made it all that much sweeter.

OU women beat No. 3 Texas for Big 12 title

Lexy Keys drained a 3-pointer with four seconds left to not only beat rival and third-ranked Texas 71-70, but also clinch the Big 12 regular-season title for the OU women's basketball team.

Love's Field opens

Patty Gasso and her program finally got the stadium they deserve when Love's Field opened on March 1. In the 4,200-seat stadium's first game, Kinzie Hansen hit a walk-off home run to fend off an upset to Miami (OH).

OU women's gymnastics wins Big 12 title with NCAA record

The OU women used an NCAA record score of 198.95 to win the Big 12 women's gymnastics championship on March 23.

Sooners win Big 12 regular season baseball title

Skip Johnson's team accomplished something no other OU baseball team had before: win a Big 12 regular-season championship. And the Sooners did it in their final shot in their last season in the conference.

OU softball wins fourth straight national title

These moments aren't ranked, but if they were, this would be at the top. OU swept rival Texas to win its fourth (!!!!) national championship in a row in softball. The Sooners became the first program to ever accomplish that feat in college softball history.

SEC era officially begins

After years of anticipation, Oklahoma officially joined the SEC on July 1. And it was quite the party in Norman.

Pick-6 for first SEC win

Speaking of SEC history, Kip Lewis snatched an interception and returned it for a 63-yard touchdown with 4:06 left to give OU the lead to ultimately beat Auburn 27-21 and notch its first-ever SEC win.

Sooners take down Alabama

The Sooners absolutely crushed mighty Alabama, ranked No. 7, 24-3 in Norman. The crowd at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium then stormed the field for not only one of the most memorable moments of 2024, but in Sooner history. The upset also put OU at six wins to continue to its second-longest active bowl streak in the country.

Sooners' 13-0 start

The OU men's basketball team finished 2024 unbeaten at 13-0 and debuted inside the top 10 of the last USA Today Coaches Poll of the year. The highlight of the undefeated nonconference run was freshman Jeremiah Fears' four-point play to beat then-No. 24 Michigan 87-86 on Dec. 18.
