The Oklahoma Sooners' hunt for a new wide receiver with some size is still ongoing.
The Sooners have needed to get a receiver with height the last two transfer portal cycles this offseason, but have failed both times so far. That's led new OU general manager Jim Nagy to start looking in some low places to hopefully find an unknown gem.
McNeese transfer wide receiver Jer'Michael Carter on Tuesday night announced via X that he got an offer from OU out of the transfer portal. According to multiple reports on Wednesday, Carter will visit Norman on Friday.

McNeese transfer WR Jer'Michael Carter announces offer from Sooners
Coming from a McNeese team that went 6-6 last season in the FCS, Carter doesn't hail from a program that would excite Sooner Nation at first glance, but he still has the intangibles that OU needs from a receiver right now.
Carter, a sophomore, is listed at 6-foot-4, which would make him one of the tallest receivers on OU's spring football roster, behind only 6-foot-6 Ivan Carreon and 6-foot-5 Jayden Gibson, who was injured all of last season. Outside of those two, 11 of OU's other 15 receivers are listed right at 6-foot or shorter.
After playing only four games in 2023, Carter last season caught 37 passes for 537 yards and three touchdowns. He was listed as a sophomore on McNeese's roster last year, but he should be able to consider his first year a redshirt season since he appeared in only four games and have three years of eligibility left.

Carter has gotten a lot of attention from other Power 4 programs since entering the transfer portal on Monday. He's announced offers from Tennessee, Utah, Vanderbilt, Baylor, West Virginia, Virginia Tech and a few Group of 5 programs. He's reportedly scheduled visits already to Tennessee, Utah, Baylor and Vanderbilt, showing Carter clearly wants to make the jump to the Power 4 level.
Sooner Nation tends to get frustrated when OU plucks talent from lower-level programs that's unproven in big games, but considering what's available at receiver during this spring transfer cycle, especially with some size, Carter would be a solid get for the Sooners and could surprise in 2025.
So far, the Sooners have landed three transfers this spring. They signed Stanford offensive lineman Jake Maikkula and Cal running back Jaydn Ott the day before the transfer portal even opened. Then on Tuesday, Utah State transfer defensive tackle Siolaa Lolohea announced his commitment to OU.
