Just like during the winter, the Oklahoma Sooners still need to bring in more talent at wide receiver.
The Sooners experienced a mass exodus of five receivers entering the transfer portal during the winter, including the big-bodied Nic Anderson, who became the top receiver available. That movement came after OU struggled mightily during the season in the passing game while five of its top receivers were injured most of the season.
OU added four receivers from the transfer portal during the winter, but recent addition Javonnie Gibson broke his leg during the spring. Gibson is expected to be healthy again by the season opener on Aug. 30, but still no guarantee.
Even with the recent additions, the Sooners still need another big target for new quarterback John Mateer. OU has Jayden Gibson and Ivan Carreon, plus incoming freshman Manny Choice, to provide some height at receiver, but most of the Sooners' receiving corps is still undersized, especially for the SEC.
With one last chance to add a big target on the outside and limited options, here are three receivers available in the transfer portal during the spring that could fill OU's void.
Wide receivers Sooners should be after in transfer portal
Hykeem Williams was one of the most recent big additions to the transfer portal on Thursday and immediately become one of the top five receivers available, according to 247Sports.
Williams didn't do much his first two years at Florida State while battling injuries, catching 16 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown in nine games last season. Florida State's entire offense was abysmal, though, and struggled to get the ball downfield (sound familiar?).
He's a former five-star recruit and was the No. 3 receiver in the 2023 class by 247Sports and ESPN. He's also one of the biggest receivers available in the portal. Oh, and he can fly.

Williams would have two years of eligibility left.
Xavier Loyd was one of the first receivers to pop up that the Sooners are reportedly after as a top-10 receiver in the portal.
In his first real season of action last year, Loyd had 66 receptions, 912 yards and six TDs for Southern Illinois. He started his career at Kansas State, but caught only one pass there.
If Loyd does choose the Sooners, then he'd immediately play his former team in OU's season opener on Aug. 30.
Illinois St WR Xavier Loyd @XavierLoyd caught my eye this past season where he was part of one of the best WR Duo's in the FCS.

A former Kansas State transfer, Loyd displays a wide catch radius and is a reliable chain mover for a RedBirds team that sneakily has a bunch of NFL… pic.twitter.com/LrbCX0PpJV
Mark Hamper technically comes from Wisconsin, but he never actually played a game for the Badgers. He just transferred from Idaho to Wisconsin in December as one of top receivers in the portal, but now he's already back on the market.
Last season at Idaho, Hamper caught 48 passes for 966 yards and six TDs in his first full season of action. According to 247Sports, Hamper is the second-best receiver available in the portal.
At 6-foot-2, Hamper definitely has the ability to go up and get balls that OU is looking for.
