Nice try, Tigers.

The Oklahoma Sooners would hope this isn't the only time they outdo the LSU Tigers this month.

Before the Sooners host LSU on Nov. 29 in Norman, the Tigers recently tried to swipe a 2026 wide receiver commit from OU, but failed, even with home-field advantage.

Brayden Allen assures commitment to Sooners

The Tigers last weekend hosted wide receiver Brayden Allen, from Lafayette, Louisiana, for a visit during their 23-22 win over Arkansas on Saturday that snapped a three-game losing streak. Despite the Tigers' effort less than a month before Early National Signing Day, Sam Spiegelman of Rivals reported on Monday that Allen is "locked in with Oklahoma."

Spiegelman had previously reported Saturday night after Allen's visit that LSU was pushing hard to flip Allen, sparking worry the Sooners could lose a commit with little time to recover.

“LSU is my dream school since a little kid and they put a lot of receivers in the league," Allen told Spiegelman.

Allen, listed at 6-foot-1, is a consensus three-star recruit from Lafayette Christian Academy in Louisiana. According to the 247Sports Composite, Allen is the No. 84 receiver in the 2026 class and No. 20 overall prospect in the state of Louisiana.

Allen had originally committed to a different in-state program in Tulane before flipping to the Sooners in October. Since then, though, the Sooners have added former Penn State commit Jahsiear Rogers, giving them four receivers from the 2026 class, with Allen being rated the lowest.

Being low on the totem pole and getting the opportunity to play at the best program in his home state could have been enough to change Allen's mind, but with LSU not even having a coach right now and the Sooners actually having a solidified leader with Brent Venables, Oklahoma was clearly still the best option for Allen.
