The Oklahoma Sooners could be a day away from having another Jefferson on their roster.

Junior college tight end Josiah Jefferson, the brother of former OU safety Tony Jefferson, will announce his destination on Friday after narrowing down his school options to three between OU, Utah and Arizona. 247Sports' Crystal Ball Prediction has Jefferson choosing the Sooners.

Josiah Jefferson sets commitment date with OU in top 3

Jefferson would be a massive addition to OU's 2026 class, listed at 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds. He would be the second tight end to join the class after three-star high school recruit Ryder Mix from Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas. Mix is listed at 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds as the Sooners are now eyeing tight ends with SEC size.

Jefferson's recruitment has just recently taken off as an under-the-radar junior college prospect from Southwestern College in California. The Sooners found him thanks to an exchange between OU general manager Jim Nagy and Tony on X.

Early on during the Oklahoma City Thunder's run to an NBA title, Nagy posted that he wanted to find OU's equivalent to Thunder guard Alex Caruso. Tony then recommended his brother, and six days later, Josiah Jefferson posted that he received an offer from OU. Jefferson then visited Norman two weeks ago before also visiting Utah.

Tony played safety for the Sooners in 2010-12 before starting his NFL career. He currently plays for the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Sooners have 13 commitments from the 2026 class so far and five are on the offensive side of the ball. Jefferson would be the only addition from the junior college ranks.
