Patty Gasso isn't the only one that knows her team hasn't peaked yet.

After sweeping Texas over the weekend, the Oklahoma Sooners are expected to rise to the top of every major national poll and also already surged in the latest RPI rankings.

The Sooners jumped six spots within the last week from No. 9 to No. 3 in RPI rankings.

Sooners leap in RPI after sweeping Longhorns

RPI is calculated using a team's winning percentage, its opponents' winning percentage and its opponents' opponents' winning percentage. Basically, there's a major emphasis not just on winning, but who a team beats and strength of schedule.

In the first RPI rankings of the season, the Sooners were way down at No. 26 despite being No. 1 every major national poll at the time. But at that point in early March, OU hadn't really played anybody and was just starting its SEC gauntlet.

Since, with only one weekend left in the regular season, the Sooners have played only one unranked team in a three-game SEC series. And they are also atop the SEC standings with one week left. The loaded SEC compromises eight of the top-10 spots in the RPI rankings.

Most recently, OU swept Texas last weekend at Love's Field in Norman. The sweep dropped the Longhorns only one spot from No. 8 to 9 in the RPI rankings, but gave a massive boost to the Sooners.

At 42-5, the only teams the RPI has above OU now is Texas A&M and Florida, respectively. The Sooners will conclude their regular season with a trip to Florida this weekend. Another sweep of the Gators, and the Sooners should start the postseason No. 1 in every major poll and the RPI rankings.
