Just a short week ago, Oklahoma was sitting at No. 5 in at least one of the national softball polls and looking up at three other teams that each boasted a top ranking in one of the three other major national rankings.
This week, the Sooners (42-5) are likely to leapfrog all three teams -- Texas A&M, Tennessee and Texas, all from the SEC -- and take over the top spot in the national softball rankings.
The movement is already underway with Softball America elevating Oklahoma back to the No. 1 spot the Sooners have grown so accustomed to over most of the past four seasons. OU advanced five spots in the Softball America rankings to No. 1 this week after sweeping the Texas Longhorns, previously the No. 3 team in the Softball America poll, over the weekend.

Arkansas, the No. 6 team a week ago, won two of three over the weekend against Texas A&M, the No. 1 team last week in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25. The Aggies are the new No. 2 team, according to the Softball America rankings.
Tennessee, No. 1 a week ago in both the Softball America and D1 Softball polls, lost twice last week (to Clemson and Ole Miss) and dropped down two spots to No. 3. Oregon, the leader in the Big Ten, and Florida State round out the top five teams this week in the Softball America poll.
Texas, now three full games back of SEC-leading Oklahoma in the conference standings, dropped down four spots to No. 7.
The other three national polls (ESPN/USA Softball, D1 Softball and the NFCA Coaches Poll) release their weekly rankings on Tuesday, and the wide expectation is that Patty Gasso's four-time defending national champions will change things up by occupying the No. 1 spot in all four national polls by the end of Tuesday.
Eleven SEC teams were represented in the top 25 of all four national polls last week.
Oklahoma travels to play top-10 Florida this weekend in a three-game series on the final weekend of the regular season.
