Sooners projected to land 2027 QB Ben Arbuckle didn’t want to miss

Apparently, new Oklahoma offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle gets whatever he wants.

Rivals' Brandon Drumm on Tuesday put in a FutureCast prediction for the Sooners to land 2027 quarterback Peyton Houston, who has reportedly been Arbuckle's top target in the class. No other major recruiting outlet has made a projection for Houston, but things certainly appear as if Houston will be in Norman in a few years.

OU predicted to land 2027 QB Peyton Houston

According to Parker Thune of Rivals, Arbuckle has told Houston multiple times that he’s the Sooners’ top priority in the 2027 class. He’s already visited Norman six times on unofficial visits and Arbuckle also made a trip to his home in Louisiana.

Rivals ranks Houston, a consensus four-star recruit, as the No. 6 quarterback in his class and No. 44 overall prospect. According to the 247Sports Composite, Houston is the eighth-best QB in the country.

Houston's growing offer list includes Auburn, Clemson, Colorado, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Penn State, SMU, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, USC and even more. That list will only inflate during Houston's upcoming junior season.

It was impossible for colleges to ignore Houston after he threw for a high school national record 817 yards in a game last season. He ultimately finished his sophomore season at Evangel Christian Academy in Louisiana with 4,480 passing yards and 38 touchdowns compared to six interceptions in 12 games.

The prediction for OU to land Houston came less than a week after Bowe Bentley committed to the Sooners on Friday. Bentley, a consensus four-star recruit, was Arbuckle's top QB target in the 2026 class, and Arbuckle secured Bentley even after OU already had QB Jaden O'Neal committed before Arbuckle even became the Sooners' OC.
