Losses on both diamonds
The Oklahoma baseball and softball teams both got to Sunday rubber matches before ultimately losing ranked SEC series.
After losing Friday then winning Saturday, the No. 9 OU baseball team dropped Game 3 to No. 12 Alabama 8-6 on Sunday in Tuscaloosa. It was the first SEC series the Sooners have lost at 22-5 overall and 5-4 in the toughest conference in college baseball.
The biggest surprise, though, was No. 2 OU softball losing a series to No. 9 Tennessee in Norman. Like baseball did, softball dropped Game 1 before rebounding then losing Game 3. It's the first time Patty Gasso's Sooners lost a series since losing two of three against Oklahoma State last May, when OU was still in the Big 12.
The Sooners have lost three of their last six games since suffering their first deficit to Missouri last weekend. OU is 31-3 overall this season after winning its first 28 games.
Women's basketball NCAA Tournament run ends
The OU women's basketball team's NCAA Tournament run finally ended with an 82-59 loss to the 2-seed UConn Huskies. The Sooners just couldn't overcome Paige Bueckers' career-high 40 points.
OU finished the season 27-8 in the fourth year under head coach Jennie Baranczyk and made the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2013.
The Final Four of the NCAA Tournament will be complete Monday night after Texas plays TCU in an old Big 12 matchup and UConn plays USC, which is without star JuJu Watkins. South Carolina and UCLA already punched their tickets to the Final Four with wins on Sunday.
Sooners closer to landing (another) four-star quarterback
There's been some drama and confusion about OU's 2026 recruiting class with the Sooners after two four-star quarterbacks, and they're now even closer to having two quarterback pledges.
Hayes Fawcett of On3 reported on Sunday that Bowe Bentley is down to three schools: OU, Georgia and LSU. He has official visits scheduled for all three in June and will be in Norman on June 13-15.
The Sooners already have a commitment from Jaden O'Neal, another four-star recruit from California who recently transferred to Mustang High School in Oklahoma to be closer to the Sooners. However, O'Neal recently visited Georgia despite assuring he's still all in on the Sooners.
