John Mateer Heisman odds
BetMGM recently released updated Heisman Trophy odds with new Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer holding put from his opening odds at +2500, which was the 14th-best listed. Those honestly aren't too bad of odds for a quarterback who just transferred to a new program into the SEC from Washington State.
What doesn't make sense, though, is that not only does Texas quarterback Arch Manning have much better odds than Mateer, but he has the best of any player in the country at +900. Manning has just two career starts under his belt against Louisiana Monroe and Mississippi State with nine total touchdowns. For comparison, Mateer started every game last season and led all of the FBS with 44 total TDs.
Jackson Arnold giving Hugh Freeze fits
Quarterback Jackson Arnold had Sooner Nation pulling its hair out last season, and now, he already has his new coach slamming visors in frustration.
Video leaked out of Auburn's fall camp on Thursday of Arnold messing up twice during the same drill before head coach Hugh Freeze threw his visor on the ground and ripped into Arnold. The original post was deleted, but the video of the incident lived on.
Looks like Auburn is having QB problems.

A media member posted this, and then quickly deleted it. 🤣 pic.twitter.com/AksKCgyFEQ
Freeze was then asked about incident after practice and still didn't sound happy about his new quarterback.
Asked Hugh Freeze about this moment today.

“When we have the right thing called, the expectation, and I think it's a reasonable one, is we execute it. Now, if we haven’t coached it well enough when we get in there, maybe that’s the case…I’ll ask the quarterback staff, ‘What… https://t.co/xcMkSJhOwT pic.twitter.com/QIvM3mTSKx
Colin Cowherd's perfect Texas description
An article from The Athletic recently got shared everywhere for the wrong reasons because it deemed Texas the "New Alabama" of college football. You know, the Alabama that actually won some championships this century, or even this decade.
In response to the preposterous take, Colin Cowherd instead gave Texas the absolute perfect comparison.
"Texas, my entire left, has been USC in cowboy hats," Cowherd said during his show. "Hey, it's good looking, a lot of style, a lot of vibe, a lot of energy, coach always makes a lot of money, cool stadium, cool city. Where are all the natties?"
Here's the entire explanation that's worth listening to.
