Colin Cowherd had the perfect description for Texas football after being deemed 'New Alabama'

A recent article by The Athletic that proclaimed the Texas Longhorns are the "New Alabama" in college football has gotten a lot of laughs from college football fans since.

In the midst of the social media jokes and other radio voices putting down the preposterous take, Colin Cowherd not only also disagreed with the proclamation, but actually gave a much better comparison for Texas rather than a program that has actually won trophies.

"Texas, my entire left, has been USC in cowboy hats," Cowherd said during his show. "Hey, it's good looking, a lot of style, a lot of vibe, a lot of energy, coach always makes a lot of money, cool stadium, cool city. Where are all the natties?"

Colin Cowherd says Texas more like USC, not Alabama

The entire rant is worth listening to.

Although he's famous for dishing out wild takes, Cowherd was 100% correct here. I can't believe no one made this comparison sooner of two self-proclaimed Blue Bloods who rarely actually win championships.

Texas is sitting high right now after back-to-back trips to the College Football Playoff (finally). However, at their peak, the Longhorns still just have one new trophy in the case. Texas manhandled Oklahoma State to win a Big 12 championship on its way out of the conference in 2023. Luckily for the Longhorns, the Cowboys beat Oklahoma in the last Bedlam in Stillwater after the Sooners already beat Texas earlier that season.

Then last season, Texas lost in the SEC Championship Game and fell short in the CFP, so even after winning 11 games with the easiest schedule in the SEC, the Longhorns still actually got nothing from it except more arrogant.

Texas is not Alabama. Texas is not even Oklahoma, which has won 14 conference titles this century compared the Longhorns' three.
