Elijah Thomas' impressive NFL comp

Oklahoma wide receivers coach Emmett Jones couldn't praise freshman Elijah Thomas enough when he was asked about the young star after a recent practice. In the midst of the praise, Jones even compared Thomas to Pro Bowl receiver Malik Nabers.

"That's Malik Nabers right there," Jones said of Thomas. "I think he's gonna have a little bit of that athletic ability in him, but this program will instill you with different DNA. He's just so explosive. Learns fast, takes good notes, man. Never really makes the same mistake.

"We put a lot of pressure on him to see how he will respond. He's responding well. I try to break him on the field, try to break him in the classroom. I can't break him at all. He's got natural ball skills. Like I said, he's so explosive. His catch range and his radius is ridiculous, man."

Senior Bowl Top 300 loaded with Sooners

The Sooners had 10 players on the Senior Bowl Top 300 that was released on Wednesday, including OU wide receiver Deion Burks, linebacker Kendal Daniels, defensive back Kendel Dolby, defensive tackle Gracen Halton, defensive end Marvin Jones Jr., quarterback John Mateer, running back Jaydn Ott, safety Robert Spears-Jennings, defensive end R Mason Thomas and defensive tackle Damonic Williams.

Of the 10 top NFL Draft prospects, only Halton, Spears-Jennings and Thomas signed with OU out of high school, with the rest of the group transferring to Norman at some point.

Jaydn Ott on All-Transfer Team

New OU running back Jaydn Ott, who transferred from Cal this spring, was included on the On3 Preseason All-Transfer Portal Team, which was announced on Wednesday.

The biggest omission from the preseason team was OU quarterback John Mateer, who just transferred from Washington State after leading the FBS with 44 total TDs last season. Instead, On3 questionably gave Miami's Carson Beck the nod at QB.
