OU recruiting update

The Oklahoma Sooners gained and lost some talent for their 2026 recruiting class on Monday.

First, three-star linebacker Jakore Smith decommitted from the Sooners. However, it might foreshadow that the Sooners could soon gain another linebacker in three-star Dane Bathurst, who has been offered by and visited OU since decommitting from Duke earlier this month.

The Sooners' biggest news of the day came later, though. Four-star Jonathan Hatton Jr., a top-5 running back in the 2026 class, flipped his commitment back from Texas A&M to OU after originally being pledged to the Sooners. Hatton became the Sooners' second-highest rated pledge in the 2026 class.

All of this movement came just over a week before Early National Signing Day on Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Sooners haul in SEC awards

Three different Sooners were honored with weekly awards by the SEC on Monday after Oklahoma's 17-6 win over No. 22 Missouri on Saturday.

OU defensive end Taylor Wein was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week after getting SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week just last week. And a week after Wein earned the honor, so did his teammate, with defensive tackle Gracen Halton also getting SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week.

Punter Grayson Miller was also named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week after kicker Tate Sandell earned the same recognition in two of the previous three weeks.

Baker Mayfield injury update

It was a rough night for Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield in the Bucs' 34-7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football. The worst part was Mayfield played just a half of football before leaving the game with a left shoulder injury. Fortunately, after an MRI on Monday, it was confirmed Mayfield avoided a serious injury and is questionable to play in the Bucs' next game with a low-grade sprain.
