Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback and former Sooner Baker Mayfield had more problems in one half of football against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football than he's had all season.
The Rams hammered the Bucs on Sunday in L.A. 34-7, and Mayfield wasn't even able to try to lead another heroic comeback in the second half after going to the locker room already down 31-7.
Baker Mayfield injury update
Already in desperation mode before halftime, the Bucs attempted a Hail Mary for the final play of the half, and that ended up being Mayfield's last play of the night. Earlier in the quarter, Mayfield had a classic Baker play, scrambling up the middle and running over a defender to convert a third down into a new set of downs. The drive ultimately ended with a touchdown pass from Mayfield to Tez Johnson, but after that play, Mayfield immediately went to the medical tent with his left arm dangling.
Mayfield went back out there for two more possessions, but after heaving that final Hail Mary pass, it was obvious Mayfield was in pain. He returned after the half with his non-throwing arm in a sling, and backup Teddy Bridgewater led the rest of the game.

Bucs head coach Todd Bowles said after the game that Mayfield had a sprained left shoulder and will have an MRI on Monday to reveal how serious the injury is and how much time Mayfield could miss.
"You never want to see guys injured, especially your leader," Bridgewater said postgame. "But Baker's a tough guy, man. He tried to come back out there and tough it out for the guys. That says a lot about him."
Even before the injury, the night was going poorly for Mayfield. He threw a pick-6 on the Bucs' first possession of the game that extended the Rams' quick lead to 14-0. He threw a second interception on that Hail Mary attempt to end the half, but that was the least of his worries at the time.
Mayfield completed nine of 19 pass attempts for 41 yards and a TD with a pair of interceptions in one half of play. He also rushed for 19 yards on four carries as the Rams put pressure on both of the Bucs' quarterbacks all night.
The loss officially put the Bucs on a losing streak after dropping three in a row. They could also lead their lead in the division if the Carolina Panthers beat the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night.
Mayfield's performance also came while going head-to-head against new NFL MVP favorite Matthew Stafford. Mayfield was an early frontrunner for the award, and although the odds were against him after the last few weeks, Sunday night certainly halted Mayfield's chances at winning MVP, especially over Stafford. However, Mayfield's greatest concern now is just being able to play so the Bucs can get into the NFL Playoffs.
