The Oklahoma women are headed to the Elite Eight of the 2025 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships, and the Sooner men are right on their heels.
Oklahoma is the top national seed in the NCAA Men's Championships, which will be held at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on April 18-19.
Sooners get 1-seed for NCAA Championships
The Sooners advanced to the NCAA Championships after winning the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championship this past weekend for the 21st time and the first since 2021. OU's team score of 329.250 in the MPSF Championship edged second-place Stanford (328.950), California (315.450) and Air Force (315.350).
Oklahoma earned the top national ranking based on its 327.700 National Qualifying Average. Michigan (326.838), the host team in this year's NCAA National Championships, is ranked No. 2, Stanford No. 3 (326.813), Nebraska No. 4 (324.538) and Penn State No. 5 (322.700).
The Sooners are 17-1 this season, with their only loss coming to Stanford back in January in OU's second competition of the season. They will face Nebraska, Penn State, No. 8 Air Force, No. 9 California and No. 12 William & Mary in the first of two NCAA Championship qualifying sessions on April 18.
OU is currently tied with Penn State for the most national championships in men's gymnastics with 12. The Nittany Lions are the only team in the Sooners' qualifying session that OU has not defeated this session, but the two national powerhouses were paired against each other in the same qualifying session for the second year in a row.
Competing in the second qualifying session on April 18 will be Michigan, Stanford, No. 6 Illinois, No. 7 Ohio State, No. 10 Navy and No. 11 Army.
The top three teams in each qualifying session, along with the top three all-around performers not from one of the advancing teams and the top three gymnasts in each event not on one of the qualifying teams, will move on to the championship finals on April 19.
